On May 30th, Hanoi candidates completed the Literature and Foreign Language exams for the 2026-2027 entrance exam to public non-specialized high schools.

This is the largest-scale 10th-grade entrance exam ever held in the capital city, with over 124,000 candidates registering to take the exam. To facilitate the exam, the city established 224 examination centers with more than 5,300 official examination rooms, along with a system of backup examination rooms; approximately 18,000 officials, teachers, and staff were mobilized to participate in the organizational aspects.

As of 5 PM on May 30th, information from examination centers across the city indicates that the first day of the exam proceeded safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations. No violations of regulations by invigilators were recorded throughout the city.

According to Nguyen Van Hien, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Examination and Admission Steering Committee for the 2016-2027 school year, the overarching principle emphasized to examination supervisors is to strictly adhere to regulations while avoiding putting undue pressure on students.

On the evening of May 30th, the Hanoi Press and Broadcasting Agency broadcast a live news program with the theme: “Building socialist communes and wards – For the happiness of the people”.

At the program, Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Cuong, Deputy Director of the Institute of Party Building (Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy), stated that when determining the path to socialism, it is necessary to answer a question that many people are concerned about: What is the socialism we are building, and what values will the people benefit from that process?

In the current period, Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Cuong emphasized that one of the three core characteristics is the central role of the people. The viewpoint “The people are the foundation,” taking the happiness of the people as the goal to strive for, has been consistently affirmed in the Party’s documents. All development achievements are aimed at serving the people.

Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Sau, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Institute of National Defense Strategy and History (Ministry of National Defense), believes that for the model to operate effectively, Hanoi needs to clarify four key conditions simultaneously. These are: legal and operational mechanisms; ensuring resources for implementation; genuine decentralization and delegation of power coupled with inspection, supervision, and accountability; and building a set of scientific, quantifiable criteria that are people-centered.

Creating a safe “shield” for children in cyberspace.

In observance of the 2026 Children’s Action Month, a reporter from the Hanoi Press and Broadcasting Agency interviewed Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, Deputy Director of the Department of Mothers and Children (Ministry of Health), about solutions to protect children in the online environment.

According to the National Child Protection Hotline 111, in April 2026 alone, the hotline received over 46,000 calls, many of which were from children seeking help due to psychological pressure, defamation, or bullying on social media. This number is double that of the same period in 2025.

In particular, the rapid development of AI generation and deepfake technology has made the risk of image forgery and content manipulation increasingly sophisticated. This is a new challenge today, while many families and schools have yet to keep up with the pace of technological development.

The most important thing remains the “shield” role of the family. Parents need to spend time with their children, understanding what platforms and content they are accessing online, instead of leaving them completely to smartphones or the internet.

To welcome summer 2026, many art organizations in Hanoi are simultaneously bringing to the stage special works for young audiences.

After enjoying the play “Cinderella and the Glass Slipper,” young audience member Nguyen Minh Chau (Cau Giay ward) proudly shared: “I liked watching Cinderella because it was colorful, the music was cheerful, and it gave me the feeling of living in a real fairy tale world.”

People’s Artist Nguyen Tien Dung, Director of the Vietnam Puppet Theatre, believes that children today have more entertainment choices, so the stage must innovate to retain audiences. A work for children needs to be both visually appealing and maintain emotional depth and educational value.

From the perspective of the management agency, People’s Artist Nguyen Xuan Bac, Director of the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), emphasized that art units today need to proactively seek out audiences instead of waiting for audiences to come to them.

According to Kieu Dinh Canh, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Market Management Department, the implementation of E10 gasoline sales is not simply a change in fuel type on the market, but a concrete step towards realizing the Party, State, and Government’s policy of energy transition towards green, clean, and sustainable energy.

Mr. Kieu Dinh Canh believes that people’s cautious attitude towards a new type of fuel is completely understandable because any change that directly affects vehicle safety, property, and daily life needs time for people to adapt and verify.

However, in reality, E10 bioethanol fuel has already been widely used in many developed countries around the world and in the region. According to statistics, ethanol-blended gasoline is currently used in more than 60 countries and territories worldwide. The United States, the European Union (EU), Thailand, Brazil, etc., have all been widely using E10 gasoline for many years.
