Hanoi’s buses and trams provided free service to nearly 6 million passengers during the Lunar New Year holiday.

Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco) reported that during the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Horse, Transerco successfully completed its tasks, ensuring safe and smooth transportation operations and maintaining stable service quality.

Passenger transportation services such as buses, intercity coaches, and tourist vehicles; operations at bus stations; and vehicle parking services are all organized scientifically , promptly meeting travel needs and receiving recognition and satisfaction from passengers.

From February 16th (29th day of the 12th lunar month) to February 22nd (6th day of the 1st lunar month), the bus units of the Corporation implemented free fares on 128 subsidized bus routes as directed by the city, operating a total of 35,527 trips. The number of passengers with free fares reached 360,975, equivalent to 123.9% compared to the same period in 2015.

At bus stations managed by Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company and Hanoi Bus Station Operations Center, the total number of departures reached 8,288, including 369 additional buses, serving 59,985 passengers during the peak Tet holiday period.

Simultaneously, the parking services of Hanoi Parking Lot Management Company Limited were organized safely and efficiently, handling 117,300 vehicles, including 97,450 cars and 19,850 motorbikes.

According to Mr. Thai Ho Phuong, Director of the Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center, from February 13th to February 22nd, the public passenger transport system in the city basically operated stably, on schedule, ensuring safety and meeting the travel needs of the people. Specifically, public passenger transport by bus made 117,763 trips, with an estimated passenger volume of 5.6 million.

For urban railways, a total of 3,736 train trips were operated, including 1,889 trips on the Cat Linh – Ha Dong line and 1,847 trips on the Nho Son – Hanoi Station line. The total passenger volume reached nearly 300,000.

Overall, the public transport system in the capital during the Lunar New Year holiday of 2026 operated safely and stably, contributing to ensuring convenient travel for people and maintaining traffic order and safety in the city.
